This is a hands-on job in which no two days are the same. Your duties will include:

  • Promoting the independence of people we support
  • Supporting a full range of daily activities including cleaning and cooking, days out or going away on holiday

  • Developing residents’ life skills and personal interests
  • Helping residents stay safe and healthy

 Where will I be working?

he role is to support five fantastic individuals in their own flats and out in the community. The people we support struggle with Autism, Learning Disabilities and Challenging Behaviours, and they require specialised support and consistency with every aspect of their life.

If you are passionate about care work but do not have the relevant experience – please still apply. We believe in giving everybody a fair chance.

Shifts: This is a 24-hour service, therefore flexibility is essential. You will be working a range of shifts from 7:00/8:00 am to 2:00/3:00pm and 2:00/3:00pm to 9:00/10:00pm, sleep ins or waking nights, some weekends.

Please note that working hours may vary from service to service.

Role Responsibility

Raising the bar for person–centred care, you’ll provide a range of recovery focused support through key working sessions and group work. People’s lives will be truly changed by you as you enable and prepare them to gain new skills and help them find ways to promote their long term recovery. Our new service in Parsons Cross comprises of 8 single purpose built flats, providing a relaxed and comfortable home for individuals with a variety of health needs, including Learning Disabilities and complex needs. The service needs people who are team players and can inspire individuals with a learning disability to remain independent. No one day is the same and duties will vary from support with day to day living, to supporting individuals to attend doctors’ appointments, helping with medication and personal care as well as lots of fun, like days out and holidays.

Everything we do is aimed at providing the very best quality and person-centred support in the right location at the right time, making a real difference for the people and communities we support.

Training and Development

We offer training to all those who want to develop their skills and competencies not just in the care sector but in other areas too.

Please note training will be offered after your probation period ends which is 6 months. Once you begin your training with us you will have your own coach who will support you through your programme.

Shift Patterns

Pendlebury House is part of Turning Point, a leading Health and Social Care Organization and a Registered Charity. We are located in a community setting in Swinton, Manchester.

Pendlebury House is an independent hospital and offers packages of rehabilitation to informal and detained service users under the MHA, treatment and care to 10 males who experience severe and enduring mental health needs. Ultimately our aim is to reintroduce and maintain daily living skills alongside the psychosocial interventions necessary to equip people to live more independently in the community.

Role Responsibility

Working alongside qualified nurses, occupational therapists, assistant psychologists and project workers as a Support Worker, you will develop good working relationships with each of the men, be able to recognize individual indicators of mental health and to have the skills to help the men to develop appropriate coping strategies.

A large part of your role will be to implement planned, appropriate interventions, promoting independence, well–being and healthy life choices, you will also be involved in a range of activities, supporting the men with daily living skills following recovery programs and activity programs that will help our men to develop the important skills they need to progress through their recovery pathway.

Heath and social care experience or qualification would be desirable. You must be an excellent communicator and possess good people skills. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting people with a mental health problem.

Being a Support Worker in a hospital setting, it involves working 37 hours per week and a shift pattern across three different shifts, early, late, nights, weekends and bank holidays.

Role Responsibility

We aspire to work in true partnership with our service users and encourage everyone to reach their full potential, whilst working towards personal recovery goals. Ultimately our aim is to reintroduce and maintain daily living skills alongside psycho-social interventions necessary to equip people to live more independently in the community with confidence.

Working alongside a full and varied multi-disciplinary team consisting of consultant psychiatrists, doctors, mental health nurses, art therapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, support workers and project workers, you will develop therapeutic relationships with service users, and help them the to develop appropriate coping strategies and skills for independent living. Douglas House is a unique environment that gets great results for its service users and has a friendly, caring and inclusive team.

The Ideal Candidate

We are a 24 hour service and as such, we are looking for an experienced RMN to play a key role within the multi-disciplinary team. Your role will involve working 37 hours per week including night shifts (which are self-rostered and very flexible).

You will be fully engaged in a range of activities such as: taking part in clinical audits, acting as a primary nurse for nominated service users, participating in MDT reviews, and within the CPA process. Acting as a professional role model, you will also take part in clinical supervision and offer supervision to more junior members of staff and act as a mentor for student nurses.

Job Introduction

Haven House is mental health crisis service. We provide support for to people experiencing a mental health crisis for a maximum of seven days. We work in partnership with the Enhanced Crisis and Home Treatment Teams across Nottinghamshire. Our aim is to support people to find ways to keep themselves safe and learn strategies for managing their distress in the longer term. We offer an alternative, comfortable and calm, environment to a psychiatric hospital setting for those who are able to benefit from a non-medical setting.

The service operates in the evening and at weekends. The service can support up to five people residentially and a further four using our drop in/digital services.

Role Responsibility

The main purpose of the role is to support the team to assist individuals to address and de-escalate their immediate crisis experience in a safe and supportive setting.

You will work one–to–one with guests, developing risk management and support plans and gain a full understanding of their needs and concerns. You will help them to identify what additional support is required once they return home by sign-posting them to community based support or services as required.

The shift patterns are 08:00am –3:30pm, 11.30am-7pm, 2:30pm–10:00pm and 10pm-8am for sleep shifts. Staff are required to work evenings and weekends and an average of one sleep in per week.

The Ideal Candidate

You will be able to demonstrate a good knowledge and value base in mental health and related issues. You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to tailor the message to the audience.

We are looking for a Crisis and Recovery Worker who knows how to build positive working relationships in a short period of time. What is essential is that you have proven experience in mental health work. In return, you’ll be supported with training and career development opportunities.

You will be able to deliver a range of treatments and interventions in a person centred, non-judgemental manner. You will have the ability to deal effectively and calmly with challenging situations.
